Night vision goggles are included in the field of goggles, but for very different reasons.
Basically, night vision goggles are eyewear that allow you to see in the dark.
Very often, the military uses it to detect enemy presence and hunters use it to stalk their prey.
The uses for night-vision goggles are varied and they come in handy when it is really dark and your eyes need to adjust to be able to see clearly.
Most commonly, there are two kinds of night-vision goggles that are available in the market; Passive and active night-vision goggles.
Lets take a look at each in its own capacity-
== Active night-vision goggles – these goggles are capable of projecting infrared light unto the objects around you and then when the light reflects back, the lenses produce an image from that reflection. Image enhancers are sometimes used to amplify the light. Most video cameras have this feature, as it enables people to shoot in poor or no light.
== Passive night-vision goggles – these goggles don’t project light, but they pick up the tiniest bit of light around, amplify it massively to then light up a screen made of phosphor. This tints your picture green, as the human eye is most receptive to the color green and distinguishes between most green shades.
There are currently goggles that combine features of both active and passive night-vision glasses to create goggles that can create pictures as clear as on a bright sun-lit day.
The technology used to create night-vision goggles is also used extensively in security cameras at public places, rifle scopes etc.
